Remembering

Not my usual start to the day.

I worked at home first thing, and then travelled to Over Peover for a service of thanksgiving at St Lawrence's Church for a former colleague who passed away too soon at the beginning of the month after a short illness.

A lovely church, in lovely surroundings, on a lovely day, and for a lovely man.

Photographs are not taken at these events, but I snook through a gate on my way out and took this phone blip of the adjacent Peover Hall. It and the church stand alone, with attractive farm buildings.

It all looked very peaceful. Chestnut horses grazed in the field to the side (this is polo playing country, with a polo club based in the nearby village), and a croak announced the arrival of a raven. During the second world war this was General Patton's HQ, where his 3rd army was based, and the church was where he prayed before the invasion of Normandy in 1944.

Another "not normal" day tomorrow, so an early night.
