Ancestors - Mono Monday

These are my maternal grandparents with the one gift I have from each of them.  The music box on the right was a gift of my parents to my Granddaddy Jones and my Grandmother gave it to me after he died.  The cylinder shaped box on the left  is a souvenir my grandmother Jones bought on a trip to Oklahoma.  It is made from a tree limb, and the rings of the limb are visible on the bottom of the box.  She gave it to me before she died because she knew I liked it.  According to my aunt, my Grandmother announced one day she was going to Oklahoma from North Carolina with neighbors and assumed everyone would take care of themselves while she was gone.  My mother told me she remembers having to stand on a stool in front of the stove to cook items for family meals.  Incidentally, the notes on the back of the photo say this was 1944 when Grandmother was 50 and Granddaddy was 53.
