Be Still...

If you're out and about in the city centre you might like to take a look at the 'Be Still' Art Festival in multi sites across the city centre. Here's a link....

They have been having it for a few years now in the period of Lent and over Easter. This piece is in St. Ann's Square by artist, Lesley Sutton. For its inspiration it takes the story of the Israelites wandering in the Sinai Desert for 40 years (no Sat Nav obviously) after the Exodus from Egypt. They ran short of food and God sent manna to sustain them. The little discs that shower down from the ceiling of the church are the manna and look like those little bread discs that you receive when taking Communion.

It's a beautiful piece of art work and the church was busy with people enjoying it and the other two installations there. I've a week off so I'm going to check out some of the other sites as well that range from Manchester Cathedral to hipster coffee hangout, Zieferblat, in the Northwrn Quarter.

Extra picture is another installation in front of the alter in St. Ann's Church.
