To Norway and Beyond

Tipp-oldefar

It was a pretty quiet and rainy day, so pretty pictures of Kragerø will have to wait until tomorrow, assuming it doesn't rain again.

We visited Marius' grandfather today and had lunch there. Him and I chatted for about half an hour while Marius fought with his ancient computer to try and get out rental contract printed. He's a fascinating man who speaks 7 languages, and we talked about politics, skiing, and learning Norwegian (he says I've already learned a lot so far!)

His walls are covered in pictures of his family, artwork and certificates. The sketch in this picture is one of the more interesting pieces, it's of his grandfather, so Marius' great-great-grandfather (Tipp-oldefar på norsk). Beards in the family seem to skip a generation; Marius, his grandfather and great-great-grandfather all have one, but his father and great-grandfather didn't.

First day of work out on the island tomorrow painting, will probably be quite a long day, but good pay.
