Cambridge on a quiet morning

Last night we had a wonderful dinner at Churchill College with Adam. Earlier in the day the college had a partial power failure, and it was amazing how they still managed to serve up a delicious dinner for about 250 people, being some of the students and their parents. We ate by candle light and although the planned menu had to be abandoned, we ate steak, saladsand chips followed by a delicious chocolate mousse type of pudding. We finally met Adam's girlfriend who more than adequately fulfills that expression of beauty and brains - she is doing the same course as him which helps as they often work together and she therefore understand the demanding hours of the course. After the dinner we were going to listen to some jazz but got side tracked chatting to her family, and finally it got late and we went back to our little hotel in the town. Adam went to the library and worked until 1am which seems to be his normal pattern.

This morning Gavin and I had a lovely walk around Cambridge, enjoying the quiet morning before the hordes of tourists got in the way. We met Adam at about 10.30am and took him shopping s he needed all sorts of things as students always do, and then after an early lunch we drove home, collecting Murdoch on the way.

It is good to be home after a busy few days away, life is back to normal again as Thomas has school again tomorrow.
