Free as a bird

More free as a kea because today I was in the mountains, in my happy place. I was pleased to see quite a few kea, New Zealand's mountain parrot. They are cheeky, infuriating and highly intelligent.

As you can see they are also stunningly beautiful. There was a little peak, a sunny day, honest sweat, stunning views and good company. I can't ask for more than that.

As we ate our lunch several keas swooped and landed. We needed to be very careful with packs, walking sticks and anything else these fellas will happily peck at, or worse still, fly away with.

It the worth waiting for this guy to take off :-)

I'm fed and watered, my blip is done, and now I need a shower.
