On top of the world

Last year, while I was on a tour of the West Coast of Madeira with a friend, we noticed a levada winding high up, with spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean.

It looked perfect. I found a company who offered this 11 km walk and I can assure you, it is.

Hard to choose a blip from so many photos but I wanted to share the sparkling sea, the brilliant blue sky - and the sheer altitude of this marvellous gentle wander.

I had to ignore the munching cow, the statue in Paul do Mar, and the waterfall car wash.

It was windy. Our temperatures are not yet fully back to their usual warmth, but it just felt perfect.

Trevor and Ros came too and I'm looking forward to seeing their photos.

If you're coming over here, this is a walk to consider.
