I'm a Gnu, How do you do?

Up before dawn today to a mist, moisty morning.  The game drive left at 5 am with eight of us on board.  Our ranger, Joseph, was knowledgeable about everything and happy to stop whenever any animal was spotted for a photo opportunity.  The drive even included a break for tea or coffee.  We saw a rhino first and were surprised at the sharpness of his horn.  Then – great excitement for me – we could see an elephant over on the hillside.  I had the 500mm lens with me and able to get the bull reasonably large in the frame.  We also came across wildebeest (blue gnu), zebras, waterbuck, warthogs, giraffes and various antelope-type creatures – impala, kudu definitely. 
 
Back at the base it was time for breakfast and a rest after the early start.  We had heard about the monkeys coming round and warned not to feed them, so were not entirely surprised when one landed on the window edge and then the others arrived.  They were mostly in and around the trees – dad, mum and a couple of youngsters – very cute.

We went along to the site Conference Centre which is the only place here with wifi to try to communicate with the outside world.  It was very slow and I gave up with anything pictorial although I could do emails and texts. We are headed out on another game drive at 5 pm – very wet and stormy.  The animals were not greatly in evidence, although we did see a black rhino. Tomorrow we are setting off for our next destination near the coastal wetlands parks near St Lucia.  
Who said holidays were a time to relax?
