Update on The Chequers

We have the start of what could be a victory.  Survey of locals showed over 80% against renaming it The Prestwood.  We got a press release on Friday to say that they were going to rename the pub The Chequers Tree, which what the name represented in the first place.  The Chequers Tree or Wild Service Tree was once common around here and its fruit was used for making beer before hops.  Believe it when we see it, but looking good.
