Green woodpecker

This chap came and bounced around on the lawn and dug holes with her beak, had a drink from the bird bath and went on her way. Birds are so amazingly attentive, forever scanning the sky and their surroundings for predators.

Cold and northerly again. That Holm Oak is burning nicely although takes a bit to get it lit.

John's home has been in lockdown since Friday with the Norovirus. He hasn't had it (touch wood).

Bunty rightly asks how I know this is a female. I didn't but RSPB says, ,The black 'moustache' has a red centre in males.' See extra for apparent absence of that red centre.
