Faking it
Promise not to make a habit of depressing blips like yesterday's. Although having said that, I do think if you're keeping a journal it is important to be honest. I mean, this isn't Facebook is it?
On that note, last night was another horrific one. Audrey settled well at 7pm but then turned into a colicky horror from her 10.30 feed onwards. It was my husband's shift and he ended up needing backup support (I found him lying on the nursery floor with his hands over his face at midnight; while nearby Audrey was crying her heart out in her crib).
As such, I only managed 3 hours broken sleep last night. When what I needed was a decent night's rest.
Thankfully The Cavalry arrived this morning (my Mum and Dad) to lend support. If they hadn't been coming today, I'm not sure I would have survived.
We headed out to get Audrey weighed at the local Health Centre with the pram (she's almost 8 pounds now - which is almost 3 pounds heavier than her birth weight; such a good girl!) Talked through Audrey's colic and some of her other symptoms. They suspect it might actually be reflux (am I hypochondriac new Mum or what?) So off we went to the doctors and now we have Infant Gaviscon to add to our arsenal of meds. This girl has had more trips to the pharmacy since she's been alive than I've had in the last five years!
The Cavalry fed us lunch then took over for the afternoon shift while I managed to jump on my computer to do some work, grab a quick 40 winks and head out for a spray tan. Yep, you heard right. Priorities and all that.
Courtesy of a St Tropez tanning booth I now look more rested and healthy than I have done in weeks. Faking it? You betcha. Anything that makes me feel better right now....
