Beinn Udlamain

Waking this morning M's back was clearly no better - so it was the only choice to bring Cairngorm3 to an early end . The little rental cottage has been a boon - either I acclimatised to it's level of cold - or we finally warmed it up - but I'd be happy for it to be my base again.

Our plan had been to grab the loop of the pigs (Boar of Badenoch & Sow of Atholl) when we were driving South - which would have let us take in Creagan Mor, Geal-charn, A Mhoarconaid, Beinn Udlamain & Sgaimead Mhor - but it was always ambitious & I think the considerable avalanche conditions meant that even in good health we'd have had to wend a very complicated way.
This had been the plan as every time I've driven the A9 my eyes have been drawn to Beinn Udlamain's impressive profile - so passing by under this fantastic sky it seemed only right to stop and admire it for a while.
Someone far wiser than me once pointed out - the mountains will always be there another day.
