Tradescantia.....................
......................a bit of a mouthful but I prefer that to Spiderwort! (don't care for spiders!). Was discovered in the USA way back in the 1600s by the famous botanist, John Tradescant. I am never quite sure if it was John snr. or John jn. It seems amazing to me that botanists travelled to the other side of the world as long ago as that looking for plants.
When you consider the difficulties they must have encountered, they must have been so dedicated.
I have no idea why but when I was a child, I always called it
"Moses in the Bullrushes". Anyone else use this name?
