Study in Light and Shadow
Not a very nice day to head out into the landscape. I decided to experiment in the studio with some objects. The little man in the photograph was a doll that my daughter sent over from Bolivia. He is an evil little sucker. I call him Evil 'Enry (with apologies to all the Henry's out there). If one lifts him by his head something quite disgusting happens - well, I won't go into that.
Even with manual focus I still couldn't get the sharpness that I wanted on 'Enry. Shot it numerous times in different configurations until I settled on the one above.
Decided to do a B&W conversion so that the warm colour of 'Enry didn't distract from the tonal qualities of the photograph.
I could improve the image by ironing out the creases in the cloth.
This was a fun little experiment. Long exposure, available light, and tripod.
I am discovering that the little remote control that I purchased for the camera really comes into its own shooting in these situations. Sure beats a cable release.
