Puerto Chacabuco, Chile

Into fjord country in Chile today.  Breathtaking scenery -- mountains rearing right up out of the water, hanging glaciers, snow capped peaks, bright green vegetation down near the water's edge, narrow fingers of navigable water ... perfectly, utterly beautiful!

We took a hiking tour today, billed as "Patagonia Nature In Depth", where we were promised a "trek on the river trail"  ... a tour lasting 5 hours.  What we got was a single file plod through thick underbrush with NO views of the spectacular scenery, and a very slow pace.  Sadly, we were sandwiched between the elderly woman in front of us who farted the entire time, and the woman behind us who coughed into a hankie in the most alarming and tubercular manner ... 

While we're on the subject, we also heard (from several sources) that two couples were ejected from the ship on the first leg when the wives got into some fisticuffs in the laundry room, and went at each other with irons.  The mind simply boggles!!!!
