French Horns on a Plane

During the 2 1/2 hour charter flight from Asturias Airport in Spain to Ingolstadt Manching Airport near Regensburg, Germany, the French Horn Section gave us a preview of the opening piece for tonight’s concert: Weber’s Der Freischütz Overture.  In the extra you will see another shot, which shows the 4th member of the section.  If you click HERE, you can actually hear and see what we did, including a little unintentional photo-bomb (video bomb?) by me. 

We have only a quick stay here, and then go on to Vienna tomorrow.  The next few days will be quite a whirlwind.  It has been quite delightful to get to know the members of the orchestra.  They are all such extraordinary talents and we just assume that they can go out there every night and just play quite easily, but you would only have to spend a little time in the hotel each morning and afternoon to know that they practice long and hard every day.  It is an amazing treat to walk down the hall and hear them practicing in their rooms.
