Deep web

We had a great day today. We were up early to make up for our long lie yesterday. After breakfast and a coffee we headed down to Hauptstrasse to see the house David Bowie shared with Iggy Pop while he lived in Berlin.

From there we wanted to head over to Treptower park to see the Soviet War Memorial after a recommendation from Jennie. We had to jump on the U7 by Bowie's houes and it seemed like an odd but of synchronicity that the station we needed to change trains at was Neukolln.

The Soviet memorial was really impressive, glad we went to see it. From there we headed on to Spree Park to see the abandoned theme park. Bizarrely the big wheel was running when we were there, which seemed to surprise a few locals as well.

After that we had walked about four or five miles in total so we headed to Urban Spree for Berlin Graphic Days for a look round then on to White trash to meet with some of the others for dinner.

The next thing on the list in a packed day was a visit to Kraftwerk for Deep Web which was amazing. It was a big immersive installation piece by artist Christopher Bauder, with a kinetic sculpture made of 175 spheres which were on animated wires so could each move up and down independently of each other along with 12 industrial powered lasers projecting off them. This captures a bit of what it was like. I have videos but not enough of a connection here to upload them, I'll try to do so at a later date.

The music for the event was done by Robert Henke and fitted perfectly with the visuals.

The day was finished off by meeting an old friend Sacha for a couple of beers. I hadn't seen hime since the last time I was in Berlin so it was great to get a catch up.

The week has gone really quickly yet again, I can't quite believe tomorrow is our last full day. We're off to a Media college here in Berlin in the morning hopefully to set up a joint project between our students.
