Lower Moutere River
Not much more than a creek really. It flows out into the Moutere Lagoon and estuary and often doesn't look like a river. Most people pass over it on the Motueka/Nelson coastal highway and unless the tide is very low wouldn't realise a river was running below them.
It flows on past the Motueka Wharf before entering the sea.
This morning the tide was coming in and pushing upstream rapidly. It was calm and peaceful so I took a reflective photo of the opposite bank.
If you ever wondered where birds go when the tide is high they go to tall trees up the rivers.
There were shags and herons perched high. A welcome swallow flitted up the river looking for food. It is my extra and wasn't sharp enough to be the main one.
