Bauhaus Archiv
So we were out straight after breakfast today and took a group of the students down to see the Brandenburg Gate. Another group had headed to the Jewish Museum. After the gate we visited the Holocaust Memorial and from there went down to Checkpoint Charlie.
We all met up again after lunchtime at the Bauhaus Archiv. This was my fifth visit and it is always good there. The secondary exhibition this year was off designs for the new extension to the building.
From there the students and the rest of the lecturers headed on to an early evening visit to a Berlin advertising agency ,while I had to head back into the centre to meet Roz who was arriving today to stay fo rthe weekend. We got her checked in then the two of us had a wander and finally went for the most surreal dinner experience I have had in my life. It was at a place cal;ed Clarchens Ballhaus, which has been open in the same location since 1913 and is famed for it's Wienershitzel. What it is also famed for is ballroom dancing. I assumed that would be in a separate room, but it's right there in the restaurant. To add to the experience tonight was a special fancy dress theme party so there were people in some elaborate costumes waltzing round our table while we had dinner.
It was surreal, but an amazing experience all the same.
