The long straight train track

Another early start for Mum and Dad as they went on an elephant ride today.  We were pretty persuasive about them doing it and then of course worried endlessly about whether they would enjoy it.  Waste of time worrying, a great morning and by total coincidence were on the same elephant that we rode two years ago.  Good old Jake.

They were them bundled into the car for the drive to Main camp, which is in the Hwange National park, to yet another lodge and more worry from us that it would be up to scratch.  Whilst the  lodge at Sinimatell was unloved, and the lodge at Vic Falls was pretty good – aside from when the electricity went and so the air conditioning didn’t work, our lodge at main camp was great.  A few more working lights and air-con would have been good, but couldn’t really be faulted.  Phew.  Once again we had planned a braai for this evening and once again it was rained off, so we live in hope that we’ll get the braai in one day.

The picture is of the train track not too far from the entrance to the park, it was at one time the longest stretch of straight train track in the world and looks like it goes on forever as you gaze down it.
