The New Walk
The "New Walk" is a very old and familiar route to us but it did actually look new today due to the transformation created by a foot of snow. Track side trees were bent over double with the weight of snow and provided some entertainment as it was easy to dislodge big slabs of white and watch the plant slowly revert to its normal stance though for some a total recovery was impossible perhaps suffering additionally in the recent gales.
To his credIt Caley didn't lose his ball. His determined digging through snow, driven by scent, when visual conact with the ball was gone made me think he may have a carreer in rescue; as long as those in need of help carried a tennis ball with them.
What else; against the odds and despite a very shaky start; Highland football team Ross County had a marvelous result against a big Glasgow side in the League Cup semi final. They won 3 -1 after going behind early and in truth could have ultimately won by a bigger margin. The Glasgow side had a player sent off deservedly for a professional foul and may well have gone down to nine later in the game but for some lenient refereeing. Ross County now face a big Edinburgh side in the final. Ross County are based in Dingwall a Highland town with a population of about 5000.
