60 years!
Thursday
A very happy day today, celebrating Roger's parents diamond wedding anniversary - even the weather cooperated! We went out after breakfast to get some flowers, then we all went up the road to their house. Janet had put together a sort of "This is your life" photo album, and I liked this shot I took of them looking through it, together with the cake and cards (including a special one from Buckingham Palace!) on the table adjacent. Several more cards and flowers arrived during the course of the day. Our nephew, Matthew arrived late morning, in time to join us for the buffet lunch prepared by Janet and John, then Pam and Mike arrived early afternoon. We all went out for a walk in the afternoon, all except for Edna, who stayed home to rest, ready for the evening - she's still recuperating from breaking her ankle a couple of months ago. The cast is off now, and she is getting around using a stick, but the ankle is still swollen, and she tires easily as the day wears on. We (12 of us all together) had a wonderful meal out in the evening in the village of Lymm, then had the cake when we got home along with our coffee. They are going to continue the celebration on Saturday, when they're having an Open House with cream teas for people from church. Unfortunately we're going to miss that, as we will be with my brother and sister-in-law for the weekend. Its a shame Philip and Laura weren't able to join us - Philip being in Afghanistan with the Air Force, and Laura finishing off her generalist course to extend her teaching license to 5th grade from K-3. I know they're both really sorry to be missing it, and would have been with us in spirit!
