Vine View
Our accommodation on Waiheke was little more than a bed in a shed in a beautiful garden. The property was owned by Lynda, a beautiful, relaxed lady of certain years, who lived in the rest of the house when she wasn't swimming in the bay or doing the ladies who lunch thing with her many friends. It was memorable for its fantastic views over the surrounding countryside (which included a hillside covered in vines), a relaxing decking which opened on to our private putting green and for the fact that it had two showers. The first a conventional Kiwi en suite fitted out with native hard woods, the second in the open air overlooking the garden and vineyard. I would say that every house should have one, but clearly the architect here knew that the temperatures are not Scottish and that there are no midges.
We used our room as a base for our swimming and cycling stay on Waiheke and it was perfect for the job. A great hide away from the world and within walking distance of Stephano's, the local French/Italian/Spanish restaurant. It even had a "French Press" coffee pot and a fridge to cool my beer. Perfection.
