Quiet Just Now

It was a fine enough day, fairly mild for January, 10 degrees and mostly dry.  In the late afternoon, some really heavy rain came in but thankfully it didn't last too long.

Back to work in the museum and it's been a really busy day.  There's hundreds of visitors arriving to the isles now for Up Helly Aa tomorrow.  We had some Up Helly Aa tours on in the museum today, thankfully Trevor took to the stage and went around with the folk, as we've been short staffed again.  There has also been plenty of setting up for tomorrow as well.  A few hours to myself this evening and then off to work in the pub tonight.

I took advantage of the dry day and went around Lerwick for a walk at lunchtime.  The streets of Lerwick are quiet just now, but tomorrow evening this street will be filled with roaring Vikings, burning torches and squads dressed as silly themes.  If you look at the foot of the street, you'll see the final touches for the band stand being placed.  Looking down King Erik Street, Lerwick.
