The Good Book
Been busy today, after a very lazy start. I didn't get out of bed until noon! To be fair to me though, I had a terrible night's sleep - or lack of. For some reason, the last two days have been pretty painful; my back keeps going into spasm. So, when I woke this morning and discovered it was still giving me gyp, I just settled back down with a coffee and my book.
As you can see I'm reading Cloudstreet, by Tim Winton, written in the early 90's. I saw an adaptation on telly a few years ago, and loved it. So when I spotted the book in Waterstones a couple of months ago, I was delighted. I stopped short of finishing it this morning, so I could have the pleasure of one more read before I had to say goodbye to the characters I've become so fond of.
Anyway, once up I was a dervish with the housework and laundry; floors got washed, beds changed, whole house vacuumed, dog walked, recycling taken to the dump, dry cleaning collected, shopping done. G lay on the sofa all day, pleading an upset tummy. Luckily (for him) it was the kind of upset which responded well to cups of tea, plenty of snacks, and a full Chinese takeaway tea.
Funny: when I have an upset, I can't look at food.
Just saying.
