Which Way?
It seems as though Edinburgh University has picked a good weekend for their orienteering events, mild and dry. The finish of today's city event was in the Meadows outside the Dower House. Tomorrow's event will be in Holyrood Park.
This is the last time check point before the run to the finish.
It is all happening in front of our windows as I write ; small children playing a school football match, bigger youths playing a spontaneous football game, teams of mud covered people on a boot camp course, joggers like hamsters on a tread mill running in circles round the paths, and all the while the orienteers on all grades of course difficulty return from negotiating the city streets to thread their way through the mud and humanity to press the timer.
There is slightly less enthusiasm these days on the part of His Lordship and me to go out for coffee if no scones or corners of cakes are eaten in the cause of beating the bulges. However we allowed ourselves a bite of the bullet today to visit the Costa café at Bruntsfield. Without any thing to eat there is more time to people watch and the walk into the face of a healthy west wind is good for the soul, so I'm told.
