If I Could Only Be Sure..

"Whatever you do...Don't mention the war&quot

Today I went to the town centre to start/finish my Christmas shopping. Spent most of the day battling against my claustophobia as the shops were uber busy - I'm guessing everyone had the same idea as me.

Three hours later and I think I'm done, just the unenviable task of having to wrap all these presents and post them to Santa. With any luck I'll be working over the festive period so that I don't have to watch people open their presents, or even worse have them watch me opening mine - I really can't stand that much attention all in one day. Bar Humbug!

Anyway, I rewarded myself for not hitting (in utter frustration) the slow walking old ladies with enough bags to block entire shop aisles, or the tracksuit wearing ignoramuses who let their dogs foul in exactly the path I wish to walk between one horrific high street shopping experience and another, and had a lovely meal at a new Japanese restaurant called Woktastic! Yes I know that's one awful name for a restaurant, but the food was lovely; I had a vegetable noodle dish, but cant remember the name of it now (sorry!).

After that I took a wonder around the German Market, which visitis Birmingham every Christmas. The market brings that community festive spirit to the cold concrete jungle of the city. Although it was bitterly cold, I was delighted to see strangers chatting to eachother over a pretzel, and children laughing at their dad as he tries on stupid german hats.

Maybe christmas isn't all that bad after all.
