A wonderful teenage team
Just the obligatory group photo of the members of our great teenage team of 'teachers' in the 'eggs2iPads' project with certificates presented this evening. Dreadful lighting but, with parents and many of our elderly 'students' present, this just has to be my blip for today.
The adults in the picture: left, my DBS cleared colleague Tony; centre, Quentin, Chair of the Community Association who I had present the certificates; right, John, Worshipful Master of the local Olicana Lodge, one of our sponsors.
Our 'teachers', left to right: Joe, Adam, Hattie, Luke, Sam, Shaun and Rowan. You might notice some are 'Explorer' scouts.
The certificate reads:
"Awarded to ... for Outstanding Community Service, being a member of the teaching team in the weekly 'eggs2iPads' sessions aiming to tackle potential isolation of elderly people in Menston village by showing them how to communicate with distant family and friends using internet on an iPad or similar device".
Our 'students' range from 60 to 90; our 'teachers' from 13 to 15. The weekly sessions will resume in March after a winter break.
