A Misunderstanding
Cynthia and I had arranged to meet daughter E and granddaughter Z at Mount Bakery for brunch today. We had in mind the main restaurant downtown. E thought we meant the Fairhaven location since it’s close to the Chrysalis, where they’re staying tonight. She wasn’t aware that the menu selection is very limited there.
We arrived early to be sure of getting a table without a long wait and were seated immediately. When it was past the time that E and Z were due, C had the good sense to call E. We were very hungry by the time everyone was in the same place!
Mount Bakery has several variations on the classic Eggs Benedict. They are all served on a savory waffle, and they are all superb. I had the Portobello Benny. There’s a large Portobello mushroom hiding under that exquisitely rich creamy Hollandaise sauce. I’m salivating just thinking about it — five hours later.
