Observations in time

The eyes have it

Our last walk on a Scottish beach this trip. We realised that our previous sandy sojurn was on Stewart Island off the most southerly point of NZ last Spring.

Just after this the dog found and ate a large dead seabird which lasted her the whole walk. We then scattered some of my mum's ashes which was very special for us both.

There's something elemental and rhythmic about the ebb and flow of the tides which happens regardless of us mere mortals.

The winter sun was warm and comforting and it was a lovely way to say goodbye to dear Nonny for S who wasn't able to be here for her funeral last year.

We spent the evening with S and G and a group of the youngsters' very old friends from their gymnastic days. Now just over 4 hours' sleep before an early start for the airport tomorrow!
