Downham Hill from Uley Hill Fort

I picked up the 5D3 today with the 100mm macro lens on it, which did limit slightly any chance of a landscape photograph. Still, I like this one of Downham Hill, taken from the top of Uley Hill Fort. And I felt better about it after dropping in to the Old Crown Inn for a pint of Uley Bitter and a bowl of chips. I remember days used to be very different to this, this time last year...

Uley Hill Fort is is a flat topped hill on which an Iron Age settlement existed. It stands 235 metres above sea level and overlooks the Severn Vale and the eponymous river herself. Downham Hill stands below it to the west with the town of Dursley beyond. It may be the site of the earliest smallpox isolation hospital in England. Between them they make for a nice stroll nowadays.

The rest of the day is promised to the process of moving from the departing Parish Clerk to the arriving one, and reading up on what is being termed "the devolution revolution" whilst trying not to remember when Avon was more than simply the name of a river and a sci-fi character.
