Beachlands Football, Italian Style
The girls and I scootered/walked to the game today, as the Husband's team had a home game, and it was a cup match. When we arrived, the Husband's team were threatening to walk off, due to "dodgy refereeing". The Husband was one of 2 guys who stayed on the pitch. He reckons there is NEVER a reason to leave the pitch.
One of the members of the team, is Dr L. Dr L is pictured here in the white. He is from Italy, and has lived in NZ for the past year. His daughter and the Eldest are pretty tight mates. He is one of the cruisiest men you could possibly meet, just a great guy. Apparently football is a passion...you can imagine the grief from the Euro 2012 final. He is utterly thrilled to be playing OUTDOOR football for the first time in his life, and when I arrived with camera, he was on the side line, and requested a photo to show his friends in Italy that he does play outdoor football, and on GRASS no less.
Well, I got him in full action mode here. He'd been marking this player on the other team pretty closely, and had totally pissed him right off.
Dr L, I hope you like this shot.
As an aside, they lost the cup match 3-2, but dodgy refereeing did help the opposition quite a lot...even I could tell that the other team were offside twice when it counted!
