Duke B, Star of the Silent Screen
Fingers crossed for Blipfoto and the big meeting.
Today was all about animals and cars. Car due at the garage for a service at 8 a.m. , vet due to see the cat at 9. Except that she didn't turn up till 11. I hadn’t taken a book, as I got a lift from the caretaker and thought it would be rude to read, rather than talk to him. As it happened, he was quite happy to snooze in the car, while I waited with all the other pet owners, discussing their pets’ ailments. All went well in the end, and the cat didn’t mind her two injections as much as her enforced imprisonment in the cat carrier.
Meanwhile, another garage sent people to jump start our other, very elderly car, which hasn’t moved in months. HH was still asleep, so it took them a while to get things going, but it’s now in dry dock, clocking up more bills.
Back at the ranch, I had another go at ridding Kayla of her dreadlocks. She took it pretty well and looks almost respectable now. The matted hair and burrs removed would fill a small cushion, but her coat is still very thick. I had to tie Dookie up to stop him chasing birds and molesting the large frog who lives in the corner of the porch (and invades the dogs' water bowl), so he was practicing his resigned dog/film star looks.
Finally, the caretaker ferried us and our usual ridiculous amount of baggage back to collect the car, post service, then we carried straight on down to Rio. Once I’ve posted this blip, I’ll be back to Egypt’s Thousand Days of Revolution. Even HH has chosen a book over the TV tonight. Things are looking up.
