Ditchling Vineyard
We went for a drive to the village of Ditchling this morning and had a lovely lunch at The Bull Inn which dates back to the 16th Century. At that time it used to be an overnight resting place for the monks who kept a medicinal herb garden on what is now the village green. Then in the 19th Century it was a stopover for the London to Brighton coaches and the drivers would use the stables as their last changing post. It's a very quaint and cosy pub with open fires - perfect for a damp, grey day!
After lunch we drove up to Ditchling Beacon and parked up to have a look at the view. It was rather cold and windy so we didn't stay for long, but spotted the Ditchling Vineyards down below. There are lots of vineyards around here that make fantastic sparkling wine and in fact the French Champagne House of Taittinger have recently bought 69 hectares of land in Kent to produce sparkling wine under the name Domaine Evremond.
We've had a nice day, but unfortunately the side effects of my chemo are kicking in now, and I'm feeling achy and restless so it'll be an early night for me, but it'll soon pass and it's the last time!
