Diary of an Edinburgher

Loony Dook!

Well, I did manage to stay awake till midnight - first time for years. We had a lovely evening with Rufus, his mum, and a couple of neighbours. (Note to self: champagne cocktails are somewhat more alcoholic than champagne on its own...)

This morning we set off to North Berwick to witness the folk who like to indulge in a 'loony dook' (a very silly immersion in very cold water in very cold weather). Bailey's mum, J, was one such silly brave person but, surprisingly, there were hundreds of 'em - see extra photos.

The dook lasted only moments, then we walked over to the other beach and Archie had a good run around and play with other dogs. We met up with a chilled J (no Bailey) for a scone and coffee. Archie was sick in the car both ways. On the way back he was on my knee, but obligingly vomitted into a poo bag that I had at the ready. Bless. We stopped for a bonus run up the Hill for him. It was mobbed.

I do hope blip keeps going. I've been blipping for nearly four years, and it's great to look back on holidays etc. This day two years ago, we were on a beach in Tanzania. Three years ago, we were in Brighton, but before that - before blip - I wouldn't have a clue. I wish I'd been blipping when we travelled overland through Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, India, Afghanistan, Iran... Or travelling in Eric, my beloved (JR was never as keen) campervan. These days it's more mundane, and mainly feature the dog, who is a wee daily delight. It's a great community and I've been lucky enough to have met some blippers, too.

Look what Archie did while was waiting for us. Clever boy!

Fingers crossed that Archie will grow out of his carsickness in 2016.

And fingers crossed that blipfoto will grow from strength to strength in 2016.
