Ugly weather!

Kent & Sandy couldn't get the train to INV because of the land slip in Garvie so Jamie drove them threw. Dad, Coco & I hadn't packed the car due to storm Frank so we left about 11am to head for the ferry from Giles Pier (John O'Groats).

The travel was okay although all the burns were truly swollen. When we got to about Golspie the weather became ugly. We got to the pier in plenty of time for the ferry only to find that the ferry was still sitting in Orkney at St Margaret's Hope. When the ferry had gone over earlier, the passengers all got off but couldn't go anywhere as the gates had been closed at the Barriers because of waves crashing over the road.  The gates were closed at 11am and here at 6pm they still were closed!

At 7pm the Capt decided to come back across empty and at 7:30 we got work the Barrier gates had been opened. This meant, although 2 hours late we were able to get the ferry across. BUT too late for catching the Westray ferry.  Thank goodness for good friends. The fella that delivers the heating oil to my parent's house has a place in Kirkwall and we were able to spend the night there
