King of my bookshelf

After several photos of my children, here a token of my childhood. The King of Smurfs, 30+ years old, this creature is. Lots of stories he could tell! Ha, haaaa.

Smurfs, oh so populair again, but I used to ride my bike to the BP station in Holland (the only place you could buy Smurfs then) to buy one every few weeks. My dear neighbour and good friend Eriq had all the comics and we used to read them together and laugh. Thinking about this....this is probably the link between NL and NZ! Eriq, my old neighbour in NL, immigrated to NZ years ago and when I needed a goal in my live, I decided to go and visit him and his wife. Now, years later, I am still (again) in NZ, and he doesn't life too far away for a coffee!

So King Smurf is suddenly quite significant in my live! Maybe that's why he is on my book shelf?
