Northern Pygmy-Owl
We celebrated Christmas today with all of the children and their families. It snowed all afternoon, very wet snow, but snow nevertheless.(I always count snow as a present from God to me). Gage made an Olaf snowman. I had to scramble to try to find the children dry clothes to wear; no one was prepared for snow. We added a new tradition where each couple had been asked to come prepared to perform a song together. That was so much fun. We heated the sauna, ate rice porridge and... and I had many pictures to choose for a blip. Then Ben spots this little owl in the birch tree, and I'm able to sneak close enough for a shot. It's the first time in over 30 years of living in this house, that I've seen a pygmy owl here. They prey on small birds and mammals, that would explain his position near the feeders.
