Volkspark Friedrichshain - monument to the Polish Resistance Movement
There was not a breeze in the air today and the sun shone, shone shone. The kids were as kids are in big cities. Excited, overwhelmed, bored, hot, intensely excited and predominantly very very happy. Berlin has plentiful parks and is very kid friendly - today they enjoyed numerous 'beaches', elephant, seal and dolphin sprinklers, slides swings and bridges. We enjoyed the normality of the day and the chance to do nothing too much. A chance to catch up and say nothing to each other. We need more times like this.
We walked home slowly along Karl-Marx Allee, which is an immense architectural testament to the former east. I will be posting photos of the workers soon. Man, I love this city. It even makes me want to cycle.
