Dunbar Castle

The tower in the centre of the photograph is all that remains of Dunbar Castle, Dunbar, East Lothian which was demolished by the Scottish Government in 1567 as it was situated in too powerful a position on the edge of, and thus controlling passage along, the Firth of Forth. The castle was to be " cast down utterly to the ground and destroyed in such a way that no foundation thereof be the occasion to build thereupon in time coming."

Taken on a dreich day between showers of rain.
