Beaumes de Venise
Always seems to be very hot every time we come here and today was no exception.
Thought another collage we be best.
This lovely little wine village nestles at the foot of the jagged limestone cliffs of the Dentelles de Montmirail.
It is famous for its sweet dessert wine Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise. One of the best in France. It should be drunk chilled and is delicious served in a dish with melon. Also nice as an aperitif.
After a walk round, and our usual morning coffee break, we bought a couple of bottles, then went to lunch at another of our favourite restaurants.
This time Les Genets near the village of Sablet. Owned by a young couple, with an excellent lunch menu for 14.50 euros including wine.
Sat out on the terrace with a lovely view over the vineyards.
Needed to be in the shade as so hot again!
