Burgher Burger with Paul Wedgwood
I've been looking forward to this day for a while now - we managed to get tickets to Burgher Burgh #6. Tickets are rarer than wild haggis rare stuff, and more sought after than gold dust (or really sought after stuff).
An interesting menu was on the cards, described as back to front. Starting with West coast shellfish ice cream sundae - nothing like I have ever experienced before, and a little challenging to be honest, but that's why we're here. The main was a Puddledub Buffalo and black pudding burger served with foragers pesto and crispy rings. Now that was a burger, if you'd've asked Jules he would've called it 'a tasty burger' for sure. The side of chips was garnished with liquid salt and powdered vinegar to spritz and shake-over to taste - nice. Finished up with a dessert of Goat's cheese semi-freddo with caramelised onion marmalade sorbet and beetroot purée, thus completing the back-to-front menu. All washed down with a generous supply of Innis & Gunn, although we had a nice bottle of Chianti along with us to accompany the meal (we let it breathe while we enjoyed our aperitif of Strawberry Innis & Gunn). Less beer is good for me I think.
I'm not sure what I can say but fantastic evening. Thanks to the good folks at Jelly & Gin for putting it all on and giving us 'Burghers something a bit different to enjoy.
Oh, and thanks also to Paul Wedgwood for the grub (almost forgot that there).
