Mont Blanc
This is Mont Blanc with Courchevel, at 1859 m, in the foreground. We had a glorious sunny day. Usually there is snow down in the valley, and some lovely skiing, but you can see how little snow there is. This is from the Saulire telecabin which takes us up to the mountain to get down to Meribel then on to the third valley where our resort is.
I fell, hitting an unnoticed stone on my way down to Meribel Motteret. Some of the runs were totally bare and therefore closed. Because of that, the ones open were frantic and over-crowded.
We did a bit of skiing around Couchevel, but it was a case of survival more than fun. The pistes are skied out, with bare patches, stones and then very hard-packed snow. (People are saying there will be little ski-able by Christmas Day.). After a few more falls, we decided to head back, up this gondola, down to Meribel, then up the next ridge, to get ourselves back to our valley, and were outside the hotel in the sun, having a Hoegaarten, by 2.15.
Wifi here hopeless for blip though Facebook works.
