All my childhood shoes
On my first day in Colombo I did many things, including going to a bargain shoe sale.I ended up with three pairs, as did Una, my friend who lives here. Barrie the ballet dancer who also lives here bought one pair of exquisite leather flip flops, then Una sent her son Emmanuel to the sale in a tuk-tuk, and he came back with two pairs, plus another pair of exquisite leather flip flops that Barrie had given him. I kept wishing Steve was here already, to share the shoe love. Maybe I should have got him some e.l.f-fs, too.
Then we went back to the house and tried on our shoes. I suggested that we ought to make a little video...
I'm going to have a little nap now. Maybe I'll write something more informative abot Sri Lanka later. I did not buy these Mary Janes. BTW, being rather old for such styles, but when I saw them ranged on the floor like this, I felt that I had chanced across the birthplace of all my childhood shoes.
(NB: I once spent a year living in Zlin, Czech Republic, home to THE factory and HQ of Bat'a shoes. I wear my shoe museum badge with pride.)
PS Just so you all know. Barrie's name is spelled Barrie.I only get ONE chance to get it wrong!
