Christmas treats for everyone!

Dear Diary,

It has been a feeding frenzy on my back porch!  I put up an evergreen branch and have been adding treats everyday for the birds and squirrels and they have been really enjoying their Christmas treats.  It has even tempted Fiona and Freddy, two little flying squirrels.  They are nocturnal and I seldom see them but I was able to get one picture of Freddy, lower right.  Unfortunately, they have decided to take up residence in my attic so I will have to call someone to try and evict them next week.  There is a nice empty barn across the street that would make an excellent home for them.

Feeding the birds and squirrels is something I love to do and I've photographed them so much that I feel that this week long Christmas feast is my "thank you" gift for them.  Winifred is leaving the feeders alone and enjoying pecking at the seed "gingerbread" men which pleases the little chickadees immensely.

Off to my favorite liturgy of the Advent season at St. Andrews in the Valley this morning...the greening of the sanctuary.  Slowly, the blue of the prior weeks of Advent will be replaced with gold and white altar cloths and all the evergreen roping and pew decorations will be installed.  The red and white poinsettias donated by the congregation will be placed on the altar.  This year I donated one in memory of my grandparents, Mary and Sherman Creed.

It will be a peaceful, introspective week for me and I look forward to it.
