Christmas party
This afternoon (and evening) was our Christmas party, which for the last few years we've held at a pub called Romney's. To be frank, I'd rather we went somewhere a little more imaginative but it appears that the carvery is an irresistible draw for most of my colleagues and so I guess that's just one of the prices you pay for living in a democracy.
It was odd this year as I think it might be the first year we've not had a full turnout, with one of my colleagues being off on holiday and Steve out of action with a stomach bug. But that still left seven of us and it proved to be an enjoyable and entertaining afternoon.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was the youngest of our number who approached the drinking with what might best be described as a lack of concern about the consequences and it was also a little ironic to find he had less tolerance than everyone else, despite being a fairly beefy rugby player.
The party dispersed around nine o'clock as people left to catch trains and I waited for Izzy to come and pick me up. Even though it was a little out of our way, she was quite happy to help out when we decided it might be better to drop our young, drunken, rugby playing fellow home :-)
