Happy days ...

Roll in the hay

We are really lucky to live in wonderful countryside with loads of walks for the dog. Most of the racehorse land is maintained to a very high standard by the Jockey Club but the public can walk anywhere so long as it is after 1pm or before if dogs are kept on a lead.

Today there was much activity as the grass was being cut and baled into the huge round bales. The whole area is transformed really quite quickly and dramatically from a field of gently waving grasses to a a different landscape altogether. It is only when you look hard at the size of the bales compared to the size of the tractor that you get any sense of the huge size they are. I only hope the skylarks got out of the way in time as they nest on the ground.
