Ightham Mote, near Sevenoakes

Our continuing tour of National Trust properties with Christmas themes saw us at Ightham Mote this afternoon to see how the nobs and toffs celebrated Christmas in the 1890s and 1950s. A dark and dank day and the rooms were cold but the experience was much better than at Chartwell on Sunday. A couple of people acted out a scene in the big hall which added a bit of atmosphere.

Some internet research showed that there are a couple of National Trust Scotland locations in Edinburgh that have Christmas themes, so we may well add to the tally in the coming days.

The camera was propped on a convienient wall to take this shot at around 3.30pm. Set the self timer and let it do its thing. Quite pleased with the outcome.

The weather turned fouler during the evening, with heavy rain giving our waterproof gear a good testing while we were out walking. Water always finds a way in, in my case it dripped off the bottom of my waterproof trousers onto the top of my socks and thereby into my shoes.
