An early morning departure
Gavin and I left early this morning, in darkness, and as we drove towards Zurich we saw the sun starting to rise - then it became foggy as we got closer to Zurich. We stopped at a garage and I took this photo from the side of the road - you can just see a touch of pink as the sun is rising around the corner.
The flight home was on time and we only had hand luggage so we did not have to wait to collect our bags, and using the e-passport scanners meant we were in an out of Heathrow Airport in no time at all. We were so pleased to be on schedule to get home and do all the things that we had to do - until we got to the car and it would not start, in fact it had a complete electronic breakdown! The problem with sophisticated cars today is that when things go wrong you cannot fix them. We phoned the car manufacturer who promised to have someone out to look at the car within 2 hours and told us to go to the car rental place where they had booked a replacement car for Gavin. However, that whole process took 3 hours! Gavin's car was towed away and they can sort the problem - luckily all covered by insurance.
Finally home and after collecting Murdoch from kennels on the way. I have done the grocery shopping and a load of laundry and am about to go out to book club.
