Hi de hi campers ...
Today was day 1 of the Isle of Wight round island race, the route was from Cowes to Brighstone, clockwise.
Despite being given a map, written route description and following the coastal path, route finding was tricky and most people 'got lost' at some point, making an already long day even longer. (You might wonder how difficult it can be keeping the sea on the left?)
It was a stunning day in every respect; weather wise warm and sunny, although a tad windy. The round the island yacht race sailing towards us, approx 1600 boats with their colourful spinnakers (apparently it was very windy and challenging for sailors). Discovering a new place with stunning views around every corner, cute coves and seaside towns from a time gone by.
So, 9.40 hrs later we arrived here at Brighstone Holiday Park, where we camped for the night. It was built in 1932 and is truly a living museum of british holiday culture. There were rows and rows of these delightful chalets, some in worse repair than others but for me definitely blip of the day.
